Further info
For 50 years Danza Contemporanea de Cuba have produced dancers of the highest level, with a style evoking the sensual, mystical and raw heart of Cuban spirit. Collaborations with international leaders in dance have combined with Afro Caribbean and Spanish fusions to produce an electrifying, evocative and distinctly unique expression of all that is Cuban.
The programme includes a world premiere by award-winning choreographer and influencer of modern dance Itzik Galili plus Carmen?!, Kenneth Kvamström's cheeky, playful interpretation of Carmen, with the music from Bizet, featuring 8 male dancers and a chance experience.
The fresh, joyous and passionate programme of work also features the outstanding Mambo 3XX1, created by resident choreographer and dancer George Céspedes, nominated for both an Olivier and TMA award for his outstanding contribution to dance.
**** "An exotic hybrid of contemporary, classical and Caribbean styles." The Guardian
**** The Times "At moments, Céspedes reminds you of the young Twyla Tharp in the fanatical, joyous precision with which he moves his dancers through a frenzy of kicking legs, shimmying shoulders, clicking fingers and jiving arms. Brilliant."
Whatever they're dancing, you'll find them a very welcome ray of tropical sunshine." The Telegraph
