Further info

Directed by the star Finnish violinist Petri Aarnio, the Orchestra's enjoyable programme opens with Mozart's most popular work, the lively serenade Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Soloist in the serene Clarinet Concerto by Mozart is Emma Johnson, one of the best-loved of all English musicians, whose recording of this Concerto is a consistent best-seller. Mozart's two masterpieces are well matched by Haydn's magnificent La Passione Symphony, the last of his Storm and Stress Symphonies, which changed the face of European music with their unbridled energy and invention. Samuel Barber's immortal Adagio for Strings completes this highly attractive programme.
