Elgar In the South (20')
Chopin Piano Concerto No 1 in E minaor, Op 11 (39')
Beethoven Symphony No 7 (36')
Elgar's popular In the South Overture evokes the sun and splendour of Italy, while Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, one of this composer's most appealing works, has been described memorably as 'the apotheosis of the dance'. It has long held a central place within the symphonic repertoire. The soloist on Chopin's lyrical First Piano Concerto is the Russian-born virtuoso, Mikhail Rudy, now resident in France.
