Further info

Winner of the BBC Young Musician Award in 2002, when she was only twelve years old, Jennifer Pike has gone on to establish herself as a soloist of the first order, with a busy international career playing with major orchestras in Europe and the Far East. Here she plays Max Bruch's ripely romantic First Violin Concerto.

Conductor Andrew Manze shot to fame as director of the Academy of Ancient Music, before embarking on a successful career as a symphonic conductor, with a career centered upon Scandinavia. He will therefore be the ideal conductor for Sibelius's moody and atmospheric Third Symphony. This concert opens with Beethoven's delightful music for the ballet The Creatures of Prometheus.
