Frequently asked questions

Why do I get a discount on some shows and not for others at the Alhambra?

We try to offer standard discounts on tickets for all shows at the Alhambra.  However, some production companies hire the venue from us and therefore they set the ticket prices and have full control over what discounts are offered.  This means that sometimes discounts are only available during mid-week performances or not available at all.  On these occasions, whenever possible we hold a number of best seats aside for one month from the on sale date for Friends to purchase.

Why do I get a discount on some shows and not for others at St George’s Hall?

Again, we cannot offer discounts for productions run by companies hiring the venue.  This happens more frequently with the type of productions that tend to take place at St George’s Hall.  Whenever possible we will hold a number of best seats on reserve for one month from the on sale date for Friends to purchase.

N.B. St George’s Hall is temporarily closed for renovation work from 31 March 2016.

If I am a Concessionary Friend, what ticket discounts am I entitled to?

You get the Friends discount off two tickets, plus any usual concessions that either you or your ‘plus one’ are eligible to receive.  For example:

  • If you buy 2 tickets to a show and your ‘plus one’ is also a concession, you would get your Friendsdiscount PLUS the applicable concession off for both you and your ‘plus one’.
  • If you buy 2 tickets to a show and your ‘plus one’ isn’t a concession, you would get your Friends discount off both tickets plus the applicable concession off your ticket.

How long do I get to book my tickets before they go on sale to the general public?

For shows at the Alhambra, we aim to give you a one-week priority booking period before we put tickets on sale to the general public.  When it is not possible to give you a week’s priority booking period due to the speed at which some companies want to put shows on sale, we will reserve a number of best seats for one month from the on sale date for Friends to purchase.  Due to the high turnover of one night shows at St George’s Hall, it isn’t possible to give a priority booking period for you to purchase your tickets.  Wherever possible we will put a number of best seats on reserve for Friends to purchase. These seats will be reserved for one month from the on sale date. You will receive notification of shows going on sale in your regular ebulletin or newsletter.

Can I get a discount on drinks at the Alhambra and St George’s Hall?

Yes, there is a 20% discount available on post-show drinks only at the bars in both venues.  Present your membership card at the bar when ordering your post-show drinks. You and your ‘plus one’ will get 20% off your drinks (20% off a maximum of 2 drinks).

Can I get a discount on food at the Alhambra and St George’s Hall?

Yes, you can get a 20% discount on food only at Restaurant 1914 and at the Bistro at St George’s Hall.  Just present your membership card at time of ordering or paying your food bill. You and your ‘plus one’ will get 20% off your meals (20% off a maximum of 2 meals).

How do I renew my membership?

You will receive a renewal reminder approximately 1 month before the expiry date of your membership. You can renew quickly and easily;

  • Online at www.bradford-theatres.co.uk by logging into your account and clicking on My Memberships (or if you are booking tickets you will be given the option to renew)
  • By telephoning 01274 432000

You will receive a confirmation of your renewal, along with a new membership card.

What are supper events?

Friends members have their own exclusive opening night supper events at selected shows. These include a ticket to the show plus supper, dessert and tea or coffee, served before the performance, for an exclusive price which gives a considerable saving over the cost of supper and a ticket individually!

As a Premium Friend, what ticket discounts am I entitled to?

You get the Friends discount off two tickets, plus any usual concessions that either you or your ‘plus one’ are eligible to receive.  For example:

  • If you buy 2 tickets to a show and your ‘plus one’ is also a concession, you would get your Friends discount PLUS the applicable concession off for both you and your ‘plus one’.
  • If you buy 2 tickets to a show and your ‘plus one’ isn’t a concession, you would get your Friends discount off both tickets plus the applicable concession off your ticket.

As a Premium Friend, why do I receive a free programme for some shows but not for others?

We offer you ‘house programmes’ for the majority of shows at the Alhambra Theatre – this means programmes we have printed ourselves.  However, some production companies hire the Alhambra and therefore produce their own programmes.  We do our very best to negotiate with the companies to have these programmes available free for you but this is not always possible.

Programmes are generally not available for the one-night shows at St George’s Hall due to the nature of agreements with the promoters and production companies.

How often do you run backstage tours for Premium Friends?

We offer backstage tours at the Alhambra Theatre on an ad-hoc basis.  We are unable to run regular tours due to access restrictions to backstage areas when some shows are with us.  On occasion, we can offer tours when we have a show in residency with us for several weeks and you will be able to go onto the stage to see the set, costumes, props and talk to members of the company (if available).  Other tours are held during periods of time when we have no shows in the theatre – you will then get to visit areas such as dressing rooms, as well as the stage and green room.

What sort of launch events can I get invited to as a Premium Friend?

On ad-hoc occasions, we hold launch events for shows at the Alhambra.  These events are usually a preview of what the show is about and you will get the opportunity to meet cast members (where available).  Places are always limited for launch events and are allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
