Rare opportunity to hear Mahler's magnificent Symphony No.5

The internationally renowned Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra is coming to St George's Hall, Bradford on Sunday 17 February at 3pm.

The concert features Mahler's magnificent Symphony No. 5, a rare opportunity for audiences to hear this extraordinary piece and the only place in West Yorkshire to hear the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra perform it.

The fourth movement of Symphony No. 5 is arguably Mahler's most famous single piece of music, and is the most frequently performed extract from his works. It is perhaps best known for its use in the 1971 Luchino Visconti film Death in Venice and was written as a love song to Mahler's sweetheart Alma.

The programme also includes music by Penderecki, which will be recognised from Stanley Kubrick's The Shining and Bernstein. Composer Leonard Bernstein became a household name with a string of hits, including the legendary West Side Story. The afternoon's concert opens with Bernstein's bright and vivacious Overture from his operetta Candide, one of his most popular and enduring works.

This promises to be an afternoon of outstanding classical music, with 100 musicians live on stage in the UK's premiere concert hall. Special tickets available for under 30's at just £5 and family tickets starting from only £20. Don't miss this mind-blowing live entertainment.
