West Yorkshire’s biggest pantomime, ALADDIN, opened last Saturday 14 December to packed houses and will run for the next 5 weeks at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford.

The cast is led by Bradford’s own pantomime king, Billy Pearce and X Factor star Chico. They are joined by established pantomime dame and musical theatre actor, Adam Stafford as Widow Twankey.  Adam’s West End credits include playing Amos Hart in Chicago, Sir Bedevere in Spamalot, and Gangster in The Drowsey Chaperone; and Jeffrey Harmer as the wicked Abanazar, whose theatre credits include Andy Stephens in I Dreamed a Dream – the Susan Boyle Musical (national tour); Reg in Privates on Parade (West Yorkshire Playhouse and Birmingham Rep); and Billy Flynn in Chicago.

Japanese-born singer, actor and musician, Masashi Fujimoto plays The Emperor.  Masashi is well-known to UK television audiences having starred in three series of the award-winning Channel 4 programme Banzai, playing Mr Banzai.  Masashi’s impressive repertoire of opera performances across Europe are complemented by his unique brand of comedy performance, including in BBC2’s Roman’s Empire as Mr Hokkasawa, BBC cartoon Things Talk as Voice of Television, BBC comedy Schizo Samurai Shitzu as master, and Channel 4 comedy Beehive as The General.  He is joined by Jenny Gayner who plays his daughter, Princess Jasmine, whose West End credits include Chicago and Spamalot.

The hilarious acrobatic troupe The Acromaniacs play the roles of The Chinese Policemen. This fast and funny slapstick acrobatic company have become one of Britain’s top speciality acts making no less than five successive appearances on the BBC’s Children’s Royal Variety Performance. The group’s use of trampette, box and crash mat has to be seen to be believed - split-second timing was never more important!

If that fabulous cast wasn’t enough, the production also includes dancers, a live band and the traditional juvenile dance troupe, The Sunbeams, who appear on stage courtesy of Sara Packham’s Theatre School based in Cullingworth, Keighley – plus…..

Be warned, there’s a show-spoiler coming up!

There are some amazing effects and illusions from The Twins FX that audiences will get to see this year, including an 18-foot long talking Cobra, a monster-sized Gorilla, a very fabulous Genie and a unique flying carpet ride!

“With spectacular visual effects by The Twins FX, this is a West End quality show…” Telegraph & Argus
