Local Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band perform in BRASSED OFF

From the producers of To Sir with Love, Brassed Off comes to the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford in March 2014 coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Miners' Strike in 1984.

Brassed Off is a funny and heart-warming drama that reaches stirring heights as the local Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band perform the final scene live on the stage of the Alhambra Theatre.

The Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band is based at Bailiff Bridge just outside Brighouse in West Yorkshire. Led by Musical Director John Clay, the band qualified for the National Championships in 2006, 2007, 2010 and again in 2012. In January 2013 the band was promoted to the 1st section for the first time in its history.

Brassed Off transports audiences back to 1992, Grimley Colliery faces the threat of closure and the future of the brass band seems uncertain. With the miners torn between redundancy packages and the picket lines, band-leader Danny's hopes of winning the national brass band competition seem like a distant dream. But the arrival of flugelhorn-playing Gloria brings hope, romance and controversy to the Yorkshire brass band on the brink of collapse.

The cast is led by highly respected and accomplished actor, John McArdle, perhaps best known for his roles in Brookside, Firm Friends and Waterloo Road.
Passionate and inspiring - a celebration of human endeavour and community spirit in triumph against all the odds.
