THE FINAL - SATURDAY 6 FEBRUARY
WITH THE LONDON COMMUNITY GOSPEL CHOIR
PRESENTED BY PULSE BREAKFAST DJ'S ALEX DUFFY AND BECKY HOLMES
Schools from across the Bradford district have now competed in the preliminary heats of Bradford Theatres first ever schools choir competition and we have our six finalists. The four judges; Andrew Teague, Tom Leech, Chris McKelroy & Helen Richmond had a tough job but after much deliberation our six finalists are Allerton Primary, Ashland Primary - Ilkley, Clayton Primary, Keelham Primary, Thackley Primary & Sandal Primary - Baildon.
"I think it's wonderful that this event has brought children from across Bradford together to celebrate music in this delightful venue. I wish all the competing schools the best of luck and I hope this is the first of many school choir competitions Bradford Theatres hosts."
Adam Renton, Bradford Theatres General Manager
The school choirs were judged on a number of different criteria including the contrast of their programme and the overall enjoyment of the performance. Allerton Primary performed 'Refuge' and 'Ha la - la la - layya', Ashland Primary performed 'Scarborough Fair' and 'Chattanooga Choo Choo', Clayton Primary performed 'Chariots Coming' and 'Can You Hear Me', Keelham Primary performed 'Whales - Swimming Free' and 'We Like Joyful Music', Thackley Primary performed 'Rock Around The Shops' and 'Back to School' and Sandal Primary performed 'Roller Ghoster' and 'A Different Beat'.
"The adjudicators were extremely impressed by the quality and standard of the singing of the schools heard. Congratulations especially to all the teachers and accompanists."
