DANCE SEASON AT THE ALHAMBRA THEATRE 2010

News Release
26/02/10

Bradford Theatres are pleased to announce a dynamic and exciting season of dance at the Alhambra Theatre during 2010.  Following the success of the dance season in 2009, this fourth season has been brought together with a range of dance shows to suit all tastes, running between March and November.

A brand new brochure has been produced to support the season giving information on the shows, as well as details on packages, double booking offers and workshops.  The brochure is available FREE from the theatre or by calling 01274 432000.  You can also view the brochure online via the Bradford Theatres website.

Adam Renton, General Manager Bradford Theatres says:

“Last year was one of achievement for Bradford Theatres.  As well as being awarded Most Welcoming Theatre by the Theatrical Management Association (TMA), we were runner-up for the White Rose Tourism Award for Access For All.

We anticipate that 2010 will be just as successful and as the 4th dance season launches at Bradford Theatres, we hope you will be able to join us.  We welcome back regular visitors, Northern Ballet Theatre and Matthew Bourne – both with very different interpretations of Swan Lake; as well as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater who bring a dynamic and exciting programme to the city.

As well as watching these superb shows, you can also participate in a range of dance workshops plus pre and post-show discussions with the companies visiting us; and don’t forget to take advantage of our special Dance Package.

We are extremely grateful for the support the public gives Bradford Theatres, which enables us to continue to bring internationally renowned dance companies of such high calibre to the city.”

We welcome back MATTHEW BOURNE to Bradford with his award-winning modern re-interpretation of Swan Lake from Monday 29 March - Saturday 3 April.  Now firmly crowned as a modern day classic, this iconic production is perhaps best-known for replacing the traditional female corps de ballet with a menacing male ensemble. Matthew Bourne blends dance, humour and spectacle with extravagant, award-winning designs by Lez Brotherston, to create a provocative and powerful Swan Lake for our times.
