More Information on The Black History of St Georges Hall

From Rev Sella Martin activist and fugitive slave who spoke here in 1866 and Paul Robeson singer writer and civil rights activist who appeared in 1958 to the Anti-apartheid events in the1980’s. To include the history of  amazing black artists such as Dizzie Gillespie, Count Baisie, Howlin’ Wolf,  Sarah Vaughn, Cleo Laine, Shirley Bassey, Marvin Gaye,  Dionne Warwick, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Beverley Knight. In collaboration with community partners.

  • Black History Tour of St George’s Hall on Sat 12 October to be delivered by local historian Joe Williams
  • The Black Stars of St George’s Hall exhibition in the gallery.
