More Information on The Fisk Jubilee Singers

The Fisk Jubilee Singers were  a group of Black African American singers made up of predominately freed slaves. They sang spiritual music to audiences in this country for the first time; Swing Low, Sweet Chariot is one of their most famous songs.

Although largely unrecognised, their performances and songs have hugely influenced many forms of contemporary music to this day.
