St George's Hall, Bradford

One of the UK’s oldest concert halls

About St George's Hall

Opened in 1853, St George’s Hall is situated in the heart of Bradford City centre. A stunning Victorian Concert Hall it was the brainchild of Bradford Mayor, Samuel Smith conceived as a place where the communities of Bradford could gather to be inspired by the world’s best music and entertainment.

Today this vision continues and audiences are treated to a wide variety of events, from top comedians to wonderful family shows, fascinating talks and of course great music concerts. With world class acoustics St George’s Hall hosts a classical music season welcoming world renowned orchestras, including The Hallé to the stage.

From 2016 St George’s Hall underwent a 3 year major refurbishment, which was made possible by funding from Bradford Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The extensive refurbishment of this much loved building included a wide-range of work both to its exterior and interior. As well as major works to the roof, windows, electrics and stonework, the front-of-house areas have been increased, where possible, and have been decorated sympathetically to suit the heritage of the building. Brand new seats were installed and facilities were improved  for customers with disabilities including an installation of a lift (inside the venue from the main bar to stalls level), more wheelchair positions and easy access toilet facilities.
