Alhambra Theatre to stage Access Performances for The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan including two Relaxed Performances

As preparations for the festive season gain momentum, so does planning for the Alhambra Theatre’s pantomime, The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, including a range of Access Performances: Sign Language Interpreted, Audio Described, Captioned and two Relaxed Performances.

Earlier this year, Bradford Theatres revealed the return of Bradford panto legend Billy Pearce as Smee and Myra DuBois as Magical MerMyra, who are joined by Ryan Thomas as the notorious Captain Hook. Performers Jamie John and Sarah Pearson who also appeared in last year's panto are returning to the Alhambra Theatre this festive season as Tink and Wendy; and Mya Louise Fenton will make her professional debut in the title role of Peter Pan.

Bradford Theatres and Crossroads Pantomimes are committed to delivering a range of accessible performances to ensure that all customers can enjoy the annual pantomime.

  • Two signed performances (Thursday 10 December at 2pm and Sunday 10 January at 5pm)
  • Two audio described performances (Thursday 7 January at 2pm and 7.15pm)
  • A captioned performance (Sunday 3 January at 5pm)
  • Two relaxed and signed performances (Tuesday 5 January at 1pm and 6pm), the relaxed performance will welcome everyone who would like to see the panto in a less formal atmosphere.

A relaxed performance is a show that's been adapted to suit people who might require a more relaxed environment when going to the theatre. Usually these are adults or children with learning difficulties, autism or sensory communication disorders. Relaxed performances provide the exact same production that any audience would enjoy, but with an atmosphere and attitude in the auditorium which makes everyone feel safe and comfortable.

Relaxed performances involve:

  • Altered sound and lighting to reduce sensory overload
  • Chill-out areas for people to enjoy before, during or after the show
  • BSL interpretation
  • Access to a Visual Story to familiarise yourself with the theatre and show before your visit
  • The option to come and go from the auditorium as you wish, even during the show
  • The ability to express yourself as loudly as you like, or with physical movement, without judgement

Adam Renton, General Manager Bradford Theatres commented:

“It’s a pleasure to be able to host our usual wide range of accessible performances again this year for the pantomime. At the relaxed performance our front of house and box office teams are there to give you all the support you need to enjoy the show, including the provision of break-out spaces and areas to relax outside the auditorium. We’re there to help every step of the way as you plan your magical trip to the pantomime. I hope that our inclusive welcome and relaxed atmosphere will give everyone the chance to come and experience pantomime in Bradford this year.”

Produced by Crossroads Pantomimes, the world’s biggest pantomime producer and the team behind last year’s Bradford production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the production runs from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027.
