Alhambra Theatre in Bradford to Stage Relaxed Performance for Sleeping Beauty

Billy Pearce, Bradford’s best-loved comic, returns to the Alhambra Theatre in his 22nd pantomime playing King Billy, joined by TV celebrity Dr Ranj playing The Royal Doctor, overseeing medical proceedings in the Royal Household!  Joining Billy and Dr Ranj will be Liz Ewing (Carabosse), Brogan McFarlane (Princess Aurora), Sabrina Aloueche (The Good Fairy) and Sarah Goggin (Princess Narcissa), who returns to Bradford this year after previous appearances in Alhambra Theatre pantomimes.

Audiences attending this Relaxed Performance will enjoy all the magic, sparkle and lavish production values a Crossroads pantomime offers, with modified elements to suit the sensory and access needs of patrons.  It is catered towards people with special needs or those who may otherwise find attending the theatre challenging.  Crossroads and the Alhambra Theatre are committed to creating an environment that welcomes audiences with specific needs to experience live theatre and the magic of pantomime with their friends, families and school groups.

The production in Bradford will be modified to create a welcoming, less formal atmosphere to help reduce anxiety levels.  House lighting is often kept on to allow patrons to feel more comfortable or to make it easier to move about the auditorium; strobes and flashing lights are removed; volume levels are reduced so there are no loud bangs; interaction between the stage and the audience is revised; and some language might be modified.  Talking and noise is encouraged in the auditorium without judgement, and spaces are created for patrons to have some time away from the production if they wish.

Join Billy, Dr Ranj, Liz, Brogan, Sabrina and Sarah in a magical adventure where Princess Aurora pricks her finger on an enchanted spinning wheel given to her by her evil godmother Carabosse and is placed under a cruel curse forcing her to sleep for one hundred years.  Can true love survive and break the spell?  Can Aurora’s hilarious father, King Billy, help save the town and who will outwit the evil Carabosse and foil her wicked plans?

Adam Renton, General Manager Bradford Theatres comments:

I’m really pleased we are hosting another Relaxed Performance during the pantomime’s residency with us and we are looking forward to welcoming the widest audience possible to enjoy this festive show.  I hope that our inclusive welcome and relaxed atmosphere will give everyone the chance to come and experience pantomime in Bradford this year.

At this performance our front of house and box office teams are there to provide all the support you need to enjoy the show, including providing break-out spaces and chill-out areas outside the auditorium.  You don’t need to worry about shouting out or making involuntary noises, everyone at the theatre will be there to have a great time together in a relaxed and informal environment.  We’re there to help every step of the way as you plan your magical trip to the pantomime.

It’s now time to hopefully lift our spirits and enjoy the magnificent tradition of pantomime at the Alhambra Theatre.  We cannot wait to welcome customers back to share some festive magic, laugh loudly and create some wonderful memories!”

To make the pantomime performance as accessible as possible the Alhambra Theatre is offering tickets for this Relaxed Performance for a special reduced rate of £13.50.
