Bradford will be the only UK city to host Wicked outside London in 2016. The spectacular production will then travel overseas to Asia with further details and territories throughout 2017 to be announced. Tickets for the Bradford engagement will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday 24 November 2015.

Adam Renton, General Manager Bradford Theatres comments:

“Hosting the international blockbuster Wicked next summer, for its only 2016 UK dates, is another magnificent milestone in the Alhambra’s history.”

Wicked Executive Producer (UK) Michael McCabe said:

“We are delighted to choose Bradford, and the magnificent Alhambra Theatre, as the city from which we will re-launch our spectacular UK and Ireland touring production as it embarks on an exciting journey abroad”.

The multi award-winning London production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it is now in its 10th year and already the 19th longest-running show in West End theatre history. Around the world, Wicked has already been seen by 50 million people in 13 countries, and won over 100 international awards including 3 Tony Awards on Broadway, 2 Olivier Audience Awards in London and the Grammy.

In an ingeniously clever re-imagining of the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked has music and lyrics by multi Grammy and Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello. Wicked is based on the novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’ by Gregory Maguire.

Wicked is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. Executive Producer (UK): Michael McCabe.

Tickets go on pre-sale to Bradford Theatres Friends & Group Bookers on Monday 16 November 2015
