First ever visit to the UK of the internationally renowned Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra

Bradford Theatres’ 2024/25 International Concert Season closes this month with a very special concert from the internationally renowned Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra

The orchestra is led by their award-winning conductor Grzegorz Nowak in an exciting and colourful programme that features scintillating music from Bizet’s Carmen, Tchaikovsky’s much-loved Swan Lake and Vaughan Williams’ most popular work Lark Ascending.  The concert will end in thrilling style with a performance of Beethoven’s elemental fifth symphony.

This concert is of particular significance as we celebrate Bradford’s year as the UK’s City of Culture, with a performance of our own city’s great composer Frederik Delius’s piano concerto, performed by the distinguished British pianist Mark Bebbington.  Prior to the tour, this great Delius work will receive its premiere in Manila in the Philippines, in a concert that has been inspired by our position as the UK’s City of Culture.

Founded in 1973, the Philippine Philharmonic was one of the first Asian orchestras to receive international recognition and is now regarded as one of the finest of all orchestras coming from Southeast Asia.
