Our old friends the Czech National Symphony Orchestra will return to Bradford with their distinguished American conductor Steven Mercurio to end the season.

The concert will open with Czech composer Smetana’s exuberant Bartered Bride Overture, followed by Tchaikovsky‘s epic First Piano Concerto performed by the leading Israeli pianist Alon Kariv. The second half of the programme will also feature two curiosities: Jerry Goldsmith‘s music from the film Chinatown and Piazzolla’s pulsating Libertango. The concert’s finale will be Tchaikovsky’s dramatic and passionate depiction of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet: his Fantasy Overture.
